According to recent reports, we have hit rock bottom in the housing market.
I don’t know if the authors are right but it feels like we are within sight of it at least.

Enda stands up for the blind, the disabled and the carers
Hey there
uchoose.ie doesn’t have any political party preference but let me indulge myself for a minute here.
For those of you who just couldn’t make it to Brown Thomas or Kildare Village for discounts last weekend either because you (a) didn’t have transport or (b) were too busy battling flood waters to worry about buying more stuff or (c) bedridden with the flu (the regular kind) or (d) couldn’t afford it anyway even with the discounts, there is still hope of picking up Christmas pressies on the cheap.
Last week I mentioned how my travel insurance renewal quote had increased significantly. Well it seems the insurance firm isn’t finished surprising me yet.
For just the other day I got this
I’m sure all of you will have seen or at least heard about the travesty on Wednesday night as Ireland’s World Cup hopes ended in extra time against the French. What made it all the more disappointing was that Ireland played better than I’ve seen them in a long, long time and, of course, were crushed by an extra time goal which was both, offside and created by a double hand ball from Thierry Henry. The referee and linesman apparently saw nothing and awarded the goal, and the match ending in a 2-1 aggregate victory for the French.
I confess to feeling a bit baffled. I got an email reminder from my travel insurance company to say my policy was due for renewal. So far, so true. However I noticed the price of the policy had gone up. Here is what the company said below
We here at Uchoose.ie Tower’s find 3D fascinating, and as many may already know, there have been some interesting developments of late.
Here’s two of my favourites:

Personally, I thought that it would be many years before we would see a printer that could essentially output the objects of our desires. MakerBot have got the ball rolling already. How does it work? You buy a kit and make the printer yourself (or if you’re like me, you can buy it ready-made). Then the printer will make almost anything for you with ABS plastic. Genius. Only snag? It costs a cool $750. This is the future. Imagine being able to order something online and have it instantly…Check it out here.
I nearly fell off my chair the other day. There I was sitting innocently in the office (I swear!) when I got a call from the bank.
Now a few years ago a call from the bank would have made me hold my breath in anticipation of a lecture from someone telling me how financially irresponsible I was, how I’d gone over my overdraft again etc and why I should apply for a bigger overdraft to manage my finances (and thus make the bank more money). There’s nothing like a recession though to make you spend the last of your SSIAs on paying off your visa bill and clearing your overdraft.
Here’s an odd one that I came across in the Indo today: Man appears alive at own funeral.
How would you feel if the man whose funeral you were attending turned up to greet the mourners? I think this may be good movie material!
Most of us are just trying to keep our heads above water til there’s light at the end of the recessionary tunnel. The advice – which anyone with spare funds is sticking to – is to stash your cash. Pay off your credit cards, clear your loans and try to hang on to the house – it doesn’t matter if you’re in negative equity or have lost your job.
